1967 Mini Moke recently imported into the UK from South Africa and now UK registered and ready for fun in the sun!
Early Mokes were produced in South Africa assembled from CKD kits at the Blackheath BMC plant near Cape Town from 1965-1969 with a total of 412 cars being produced there over the period.
It now runs an uprated 1275cc engine, a unique South African designed unit which features integral side covers and an internal oil filter gallery which allowed the filter to be placed high on the block above the starter motor. Wheels are 13 inch Minilites rather than the 10 inch originals and suit the look much better. It starts, runs and drives really well and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face with a real fun exciting drive.
It is believed to have spent all it’s previous life in the interior region of South Africa near Johannesburg avoiding the coastal climates of other cities and contributing to the very solid condition of the car after all these years.
Although you can jump in this car and use it straight away, there is room for minor improvements and upgrades in certain areas as you go along. The front seats are not the comfiest so you would probably want to swap those out and the interior dash panel is custom made and could be put back to original if desired.
You are unlikely to want to drive it in the rain so the lack of a soft top is not much of an issue and the surfboard wins extra cool points anyway.
I think the price is pretty fair but it’s hard to value Mokes at the best of times. If I’m wrong, let me know why and we can talk it through if you have genuine interest.
Moke is available for viewing at our Midlands storage unit at the Car Barn NN11 between Banbury and Daventry By appointment.
