Seller's comments about 1925' Morris Cowley Bullnose Cowley
This delightful Morris Bullnose Cowley was first registered on the 6th July 1925. MH 8549 spent sixty four years in the Hertfordshire/Essex area before first coming to us in 2013 and has the most wonderful detailed history file. During the mid 1950's a restoration was undertaken and a file of invoices and receipts for this work accompanies the car. The engine was totally stripped and rebuilt and the body removed from the chassis. The owner had bought the car in 1951 but did not complete the restoration before selling the car to a neighbour in 1967. Between 1967 and 1971 the rebuild was completed and further invoices and photographic evidence were kept as record. The Morris has remained in the same ownership until being sold by us to the last owner in 2013. From the photographic record and condition today, we know the work was carried out to a superb standard and photos of the rolling chassis demonstrate the high quality of workmanship. The body was beautifully hand painted and after forty years since completion, the Morris still presents in lovely condition.
Mechanically the car is excellent with a strong, beautiful running and sounding engine. Whilst the Morris has been kept on the road since restoration, it has covered very low annual mileage. The last owner over the past five years has really enjoyed the car and has preferred driving it to polishing. We have MOT certificates dating back to 1973 showing the car has just covered less than 100 miles per year. Adding to the restoration photos, invoices and MOT certificates are a set of tax discs dating back to 1984, various handbooks, fuel ration book, original ‘buff' logbook and continuation logbooks. The Morris has a smartly presented interior including dickey seat and the hood and sidescreens are in excellent condition. The chassis and underside present superbly and the car has an honest, nicely aged feel. To be found in this condition so many years since restoration and just one owner for 45 years is very rare to see and this is just the sort of time warp we love finding. This car is essentially just as it was during the 1970's, it can be driven, enjoyed and preserved and carefully owned. The car has true patina and is quite simply delightful in every respect.
