1948' Morris Eight Morris 8 Series E

This little gem has a four cylinder side valve engine, four speed gearbox, two ‘suicide’ front doors, trafficators, opening front windscreen, single windscreen wiper, sliding head (manually operated sun roof), jack, wheel brace/starting handle, grease gun 4 keys (ignition and doors but they seem to be interchangeable when starting the car but ineffective at locking the doors!)

Although not a show winner, this Morris 8 is definitely a head turner as people see it and immediately reminisce about the one their father/grandfather used to own. It is very sweet to drive and though the 6 volt battery sounds too slow to start the engine, she fires up every time.

Like any 68 year old, time has left its’ mark and this old lady could do with some pampering. Bodywork is pretty sound though the paint is faded in some places. The seats are wrinkled and a bit worn though there are no holes or full thickness cracks. The headliner is pretty grimy and the liner around the sliding head is missing however everything works except the odometer.

In addition to this lovely car, the successful bidder will receive spare parts including a set of front springs, rear springs, a pair of half shafts, exhaust, SU fuel pump, complete new clutch kit including release bearing, pair of engine mountings, tie rod and two manuals – total value around £400+

Note: The exhaust has a temporary repair i.e. a patch over a hole in the silencer box however, there is a spare exhaust section.
