Seller's comments about 1971' Morris Minor Traveller
Sold new in January 1971 to Mrs Rosemary Ransome, Bromley and finished in Snowberry White, note the silver wheels, correct for '70-71 cars, with a beautiful Red interior, Absolute Classic Cars are delighted to offer this wonderfully presented Morris Minor Traveller (Deluxe), a late production car, built at the Adderley Park factory ('F' Chassis stamp).
Mechanically in excellent order, she has traveled less than 5000 miles in the last 10 years and having undergone a detailed list of works, the file includes a 7 page 'Service Log' dating back to 1992, as one can imagine, for a 53yr old classic, this Traveller is joy to drive. With just a small amount of 'choke' needed on start-up the 1098cc engine starts easily and pulls sweetly through all gears and whilst not setting any speed records, this Traveller will happily sing along down country lines. Being a late production example she also benefits from an interior heater, has front seat belts fitted and ahead of finding a new home, she'll pass to our trusted independent engineer for a comprehensive 'Health Check', attending to any service and pre MOT requirements, the car then sold with 12 months MOT too.
Often a weak point on many Morris Minor we're delighted to say that the panel gaps are great and consistently even around the car, there's absolutely no need to slam the doors. In circa 2000-01 the car was subject to an exterior repaint along with a new ash frame (photos within the file) and whilst MMOC records suggest as a '71 car would have been finished in Glacier White we can fully appreciate the owner opting for the softer hue of Snowberry White. Remarkably, 20+ years later bodywork remains is in very good condition indeed, the paint having a lovely shine, matching the exterior brightwork and it's great to see the Travellers woodwork remains in excellent order too, now a few years on having a lovely 'honey' colour to the Ash frame. There's no wonder this Minor has been proudly displayed at numerous even; 'Pick of the Parade' @ Bromley Pageant, 'Class Winner' @ Capel Manor Classic, 'Post War - 3rd place' @ the Brooklands Centenary Fete and displayed at the Morris Minor Traveller 60th Anniversary, Gaydon.
On opening the door / tail-gate, the driver and passengers are met with a stunning red interior in excellent condition and one can't help but smile watching the indicator stalk end 'flash' in unison with the exterior indicators. Openning the rear 'barn-doors', aided by 'natty' gas struts, its nice to see the upgrade to a carpetted boot area.... the space ample enough for any picnic hamper, a weekends camping or even the weeks shopping!
With a history folder containing some 30 previous MOTs, documented history of works, tax discs, owners manual, Morris Minor related info and invoices for circa £16k, it's wonderfully easy to imagine the journeys this delightful car has been on, there is no doubt she has been well cared for over the last 53 years. A delight to drive, well cared for, easy to maintain and in wonderful condition this Morris Minor Traveller offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a wonderful example of classic British motoring that's just perfect for those 'high-day' and weekend jaunts!
