Sales informationThe Opel GT could easily be called groundbreaking when it was introduced in 1968, and was the first sporty model from the popular German brand. Although loyal fans call the Opel GT "Opel's European answer to the Chevrolet Corvette," the GT was based on the Kadett B and far from a sports car like the Corvette. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful and unique design with flowing lines coupled with reliable technology.The GT we are now offering, painted in the timeless silver colour, was registered in Germany on 28 April 1970 and was imported into the Netherlands on 3 July 1996. Since then, the beautiful Opel has had two owners.The GT underwent an extensive restoration in 2016. The car was completely disassembled, the bodywork was repainted where necessary, and both inside and out it was completely repainted in an original Opel silver metallic color. Everything was meticulously rebuilt using numerous new components, including the replacement or re-chroming of all the chrome. All lighting fixtures were also replaced. The interior also received extensive attention, with everything reupholstered in the finest leather, including the dashboard. And it must be said: the combination of the silver bodywork and the warm red interior makes the coupe look sublime. The instruments were also inspected and, where necessary, restored or repaired.The mechanicals have also been thoroughly inspected and largely renewed or overhauled. The engine has been replaced with a period-original unit with a slightly larger displacement. This 2. 0-liter version offers a bit more power than the standard 1. 9 engine. In addition, various components of the braking system and steering system have been overhauled and all electrical wiring has been renewed.The Opel is also equipped with several period and original accessories, including a restored set of ATS alloy wheels, spotlights, Recaro seats, rear window heating and an audio system.After completion of the restoration work, the car was barely used and only taken out for a tour in good, dry weather.
