For sale in our Denver showroom is a 1970 Plum Crazy Plymouth Road Runner. The Plymouth Road Runner is a mid-size car with a focus on performance built by Plymouth in the United States between 1968 and 1980. By 1968, some of the original muscle cars were moving away from their roots as relatively cheap, fast cars as they gained features and increased in price. The 1970 model year brought new front and rear end looks to the basic 1968 body, and it would prove to be another success. Updates included a new grille, a cloth & vinyl bench seat, hood, front fenders, quarter panels, single-piston Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes (improved from the rather small-rotor Bendix 4 piston calipers of '68 - '69), and even non-functional scoops in the rear quarters. The design and functionality of the Air Grabber option was changed. A switch below the dash actuated a vacuum servo to slowly raise the forward-facing scoop, exposing shark-like teeth on either side.

This gorgeous Plum Crazy monster was recently rebuilt, with only 700 miles since the rebuild. Starting with the rebuilt 440 Dynoed at 368 HP @ 4800 RPM, she’s has also been fitted with FI-Tec electronic fuel injection and MSD Ignition, backed by a A-833 4 speed trans mission, Hurst Shifter, with a Passon Performance gear set (The Passon gearset fits in any A-833 transmission case as a retrofit, and gets you an overdrive transmission with no modifications other than a change in the 3 – 4 gearshift linkage rod, which is also provided by Passon. Unlike the factory overdrive transmission, which was never designed as a high-performance piece, Passon’s internals retain all the beef of the stoutest A-833. In fact, this gearset improves on the power-handling capacity of the A-833 transmission considerably, with better materials, wider and heavier-duty gears, and a high-strength 18-spine Hemi-style input pinion shaft.), allowing you to cruise at 75 MPH at 2400 RPM, white vinyl interior with bucket seats, GPS locator, and A/C. Make sure to get your hands on this beauty asap. Because this Road Runner is going to go fast.
