Seller's comments about 1973' Porsche 911 S 2.4
PORSCHE - 1973 Porsche 911 S 2.4 LHD
The Porsche 911 arrived in 1964 replacing the 356.
In 1970 the engine underwent the first of what was to be a succession of enlargements to 2.2 litres, this took power output to 180 bhp; in 1972 further revisions took the capacity to 2.4 litres – raising power to 190 bhp & improving Torque – thus the 2.4 S is acclaimed as very much the car to have.
The 911 is an Iconic car and with a succession of derivatives over the years holds status as a marque synonymous with reliability and success in motorsport.
The 2.7 RS having become one of the most collectable Classic Porsches from the period – with prices now out of reach for many.
Both the 2.2 & 2.4 “S” model from this period – now gaining in value quickly as 911’s from this era are recognised for the stunning drivers cars they are & seen as potentially undervalued in the present market.
The 2.4 S from 1973, is a full matching numbers car in silver metallic, the history file is complete with original handbook, service record & includes a heritage letter from Porsche confirming the full matching numbers status of the car.
This original LHD manual car is a joy to drive, presented for sale in excellent original condition.
The 2.4 “S” is a quick car, torque abundant, revving freely across the rev range, the manual gearbox ratios, ideally suited to both country roads & the Autobahn.
Handling is superb, the car fabulously balanced, brakes synonymous with Porsche, this all combines to underline the virtues expressed in the multiple road tests written in period. Motor magazine praised, excellent brakes, flexibility & meticulous finish.
Finished in factory silver, sitting on original Porsche Magnesium Fuchs alloys, this car is iconic and fully captures the appeal of early 70s Porsche, which has made such cars so desirable & so, so collectable.
The interior of the car provides a faultless cabin, upholstered in original black & white houndstooth leatherette showing very little sign of wear , this reflects the excellent condition of the car .The car retains the originally specified, factory 4 speakers fitted into the doors, the manual antenna & coloured windows (as detailed on the Heritage letter).
Original tinted windows add style and provide a welcome benefit for sunny days. It is so unusual to find such cars unmolested & retaining all factory fitted original extras.
The car is presently undergoing full detailing in our workshops so as to present as one of the very best examples of the 2.4 S from the early 70s.
The 2.4 S is tipped as possibly one of the most collectable 911s & this car is well placed to compliment any collection & worthy of serious interest, cars such as this do not come into the market very often now .
Quite aside from the very relevant investment opportunity such a car represents, this model is of course eligible for, and very well suited to, a multitude of classic car events. Tour Auto, an event seeing a multitude of Porsche enjoy success from this period. This car equally at home, as transport for Goodwood, Monaco & Classic Le Mans to name only a few. Owning an appreciating drivers car which is well suited for longer trips is a joy for which Porsche is so well suited.
The History file for this car is excellent (so important when considering Investment potential) original handbook , early 70s service record Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The car is registered on a UK V5 & will be delivered fresh from set up on the rolling road with a UK MOT.
