It was built on components of the Dauphine model, but had much more attractive shapes, for which Pietro Frua and the Carrozzeria Ghia company from Turin were responsible. R4 engines from the Gordini model were used for propulsion, the power of which gradually increased over the years (from 48 HP to 58 HP). The car was distinguished by its low weight and the use of disc brakes on all wheels, which was new in this class. The car was created with the intention of conquering the American market. Renault Caravelle – premiered at the exclusive Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York. At the same time, the new Renault convertible was presented in 17 other cities on the east and west coast of the USA. Across the Atlantic, the promotional slogan was A dream car come true, and in fact - for many American customers, Renault was within reach, at a price starting from $2,398. The offer included a convertible, coupe and hardtop version. Caravelle was available in several body colors - white, red, blue, navy blue and in metallic beige and green. In the summer of 1960, a legendary photo session advertising Caravelle/Floride was carried out with the participation of Brigitte Bardot, who made the car a symbol of its era. The presented copy vividly recalls those times. The presented copy is in a beautiful cherry color and is a post-facelift version with 2 round clocks, which was of great aesthetic importance compared to the earlier version which had a large plastic counter.
