Historical facts about the Riley 9 The Riley 9 was a vehicle of the lower middle class, which the company Riley presented to the public in 1926. Powered by a four-cylinder in-line engine, the first engine in the company's history with V-shaped suspended valves, cross-flow cylinder head and two bottom-mounted camshafts. With a displacement of 1086 cm³, the engine in the then expansion stage had a maximum output of 29 bhp (21 kW). All four wheels were mounted on rigid axles with semi-elliptic springs. The vehicles were available as Tourer and various other bodies. The roadster Riley Brooklands was named after a famous car racing track in England. Its wheelbase was 30 cm shorter than that of the Tourer. The sports car, which was elegant for its time, was built between 1928 and 1932 and reached a top speed of 128 km/h. In 1929 the limousines Riley 9 Kestrel and Riley 9 Monaco appeared. The production of the 104 km/h fast cars was stopped in 1935 without a successor.
