Originally registered 7th December 1928 with a Monaco saloon body this Riley was re bodied in the late 1950’s as a special by life long racer Chris Winder and his brother Geoff.

It was raced and used in hill climbs extensively during the 1960’s in many VSCC and BARC events until it passed to a Charlie Mortimer a young part time car dealer. While in his ownership the car was partially rebuilt much to his father despair, this became the subject of the Sunday Times best selling book ‘Dear Lupin’. Having changed hands again in the 1970’s the car laid dormant until 2013 when it was rescued from the back of a garage and recommissioned for the road. More recently the car was acquired by a collector in Malta, who exported the car to homeland and under took further restoration work, using the car in classic car rallies and events including the Mdina Grand Prix in 2014.

A well known car to the Riley Club it first appeared on their register in 1971 and its racing career documented by a numerous scrutineering tags that are in the history as well as photos and archive material and a buff logbook from 1959. There are also a number of old MoT’s, bills and invoices that go back to the 1970’s.

Recently retuned to the UK and reunited with its original registration number of VT 2188 the superb special is ready to be used again in a number of events and rallies or just to be enjoyed as a really great pre War two seater special.
