1947' Riley Special Roadster

This RMB Riley special has undergone a ground-up rebuild and modernisation with no expense spared that was completed by skilled craftsmen in 2011. The original sedan chassis has been shortened by 30cm and a lowered body incorporating many Riley panels with a steel tube frame has been fitted. The Pathfinder engine has been cylinder and line bored and fully balanced. New high compression forged pistons and shell bearings were fitted after the crankshaft was reground. The capacity is now 2.6 litres and the compression raised to 8.1 to allow unleaded fuel use. Stainless steel valves and reground cams together with electronic ignition has raised output significantly providing smooth and responsive engine performance. Later model larger SU carburettors and an extractor exhaust complete the engine upgrade. A modern hydraulically operated clutch links a 4 speed gearbox with two overdrives to the engine. New electric fuel pump and lines have been installed, also power boosted hydraulic brakes comprising ventilated discs at the front and drums at the rear. Modern offset 15 inch safety rims with Pirelli radial tyres, gas shockers, reconditioned rear end and new tail shaft make up the running gear. Freshly painted with an all leather trim throughout and carpet complement the bodywork. A new high quality fabric roof and tonneau are stored in the boot. All gauges have been reconditioned along with cables and electrical wiring. A radio, heater, windscreen washers and turn indicators are also fitted. The radiator has been refurbished and fitted with an electric fan. All chrome has also been renewed to set off the superb paint finish. This is a show vehicle that draws accolades wherever it goes and has already won awards. The performance of this vehicle is outstanding even with the higher gearing of 2250 rpm at 100 KPH.
