Seller's comments about 1926' Rolls-Royce 20HP Barker Barrel Sided Toure

1926 Rolls Royce 20hp Barker Barrel sided tourer.

Chassis number: GZK10

Registration number: WU6110

A rare example of a 20hp wearing its original & much imitated Barker Barrel sided tourer coachwork. The car was dispatched to Barker & Co at Olaf St, Notting hill on 31st march 1926 where its current body was fitted.

The car has lovely burgundy hides in perfect condition to the seating surfaces along with maroon carpets & a brand new hood bag & full length tonneau cover. The canvas roof is beige & a full set of matching side screens come with it stored in the back of the front seats.

The car is painted in white with the paint being in good condition. Overdrive is fitted making for relaxed crusing at modern highway speeds.

Plenty of imitation barrel sided tourers come to market, but it is rare to find one with its original Barker coachwork as fitted when new.

When new this Rolls Royce 20hp Barker Barrel sided tourer was supplied new via a London-Agent to Miss Sutcliff of Scaitcliffe Hall, Todmorden, Lancashire.

Subsequentley purchased by former Ford Works Rally driver Eric Jackson who owned the car in a personal collection for almost 30 years.
During his period of ownership the car was completely restored in Eric Jackson's workshops. The engine was removed and bored out to + 60 (which is equal to a Rolls 20/25); it had an overdrive and a new prop shaft fitted; whilst the original Barker coachwork was restored with running boards, completely resprayed and reupholstered in red leather.

The vehicle travelled to Ireland, France, Norway, Sweden and the Isle of Man on RREC rallies with Mr Jackson. As well as copy chassis card records, accompanying paperwork includes a charming letter from Major Andrews' son which reveals that the 20hp spent time on the Continent and was used for numerous holidays.
