Seller's comments about 1937' Rolls-Royce 25/30 Hp James Young Coupe

Very attractive and rare 1936 Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP with a 2-door coupé body by James Young, chassis number GAN 10. This car is in eminent condition, technically and cosmetically. The car is finished in black with a brown leather upholstery. This originally English car has a right hand drive and is in The Netherlands since 2002. From 2004 to 2008 a few specialised companies have carried out extensive restorations. The chassis, the body, the upholstery, the engine block, the illumination and the wiring, the central lubrication system, the jack system, and many other items were professionally restored. Even the wooden frames of the body, inclusive the frame of the sliding roof, were completely replaced with new ash wood, like originally was applied. Another special issue is the original radio that was restored by The Vintage Wireless Company from Sale in Engeland; it is working now as it did when it was delivered new eighty years ago. As mentioned the car is provided with a sliding roof. Furthermore aftermarket it is fitted with an overdrive, which results in less revolutions when driving in the contemporary highway traffic (80 to 100km/h).

The Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP was the third of the post-War “small horsepower models” to be codenamed Goshawk. The most important improvement compared with its predecessor, the 20/25 HP, was the stronger 4257 cc six cylinder line engine, that enabled a short term answer to the growing demand of more formal and heavier coachwork. The 25/30 HP was launched in 1936 and at the end it would be produced for only three years.

25/30 HP with chassis number GAN 10 was ordered in 1936 by Sir William McLintock of Sanquhar, England. After his decease the car got nine new English owners during a period of 21 years, until in 1996 the car was purchased by David G. Dudley, chairman of the worldwide Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club (RREC) during the nineties. Dudley cherished the car and wrote many articles about the technical improvements he carried through. In 2002 he sold the car to the present owner from The Netherlands, who was chairman of the RREC Dutch section for some years.

Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP #GAN 10 is an elegant and rare 2-door coupé by James Young. The car has some attractive specials like a good working sliding roof and an overdrive. The whole is in excellent condition.
With the car will be delivered the handbooks, an extensive photo report of the restoration, extensive historical documents, all technical documentation and a considerable amount of spare parts.
This fantastic 25/30 HP is for sale because of the termination of the hobby. The car is located near Arnhem in The Netherlands. A brochure with detailed information is available.
