Delivered new though the Strattons dealership in Wilmslow to advertising icon, Charles Saatchi in August 1989 this Rolls Royce Corniche II is finished in the exceptionally rare shade of Brewster Green, with a single gold coachline. This pairs beautifully with the Beige leather interior, Dark Green hood, and Juniper carpets, an extremely elegant colour combination. The early history of the car is a delight to read. The car is complete with the factory build sheets which document its production as well as inspections then rectifications of problems that have arisen during this process. It’s a fascinating reminder of why, in 1989, Rolls-Royce stood at the very top of the luxury car market.The service book is generously stamped by Rolls-Royce main agents and respected marque specialists, a fact that helps explain why this car drives so beautifully today. Having spent some time driving Rolls Royces of similar age, there is always some trepidation when opening the garage door to see what leak, smell or ‘quirk’ is waiting however, from the time I’ve owned this car it has been faultless. It starts on all cylinders without hesitation, the roof works perfectly and the drive is as smooth and relaxed as you would expect. I’ll be sad to see it go because this car represents a different kind of motoring pleasure, one that has nothing to do with lap times, cornering precision or horsepower bragging rights. This is as relaxed as driving can be. More recently the car has received new front brake discs and pads, new Pioneer head unit with incredibly handy reversing camera, new lambs wool carpets in the correct shade of Juniper Green as well as the fitment of brand new hood and headlining costing nearly £6, 000 by world renowned convertible hood specialists BAS International. The car is complete with its original tools, books, keys and history file. This Corniche is on its toes and ready to go.
