Seller's comments about 1957' Rover P4

Rover p4 rover 90 2600cc grey over red 1957 stock 385

designed by gordon bashford the 2. 6-litre 6-cylinder rover 90 was the top of the three car range.
these cars are very much part of british culture and were driven by royalty including grace kelly.

this model features the four-speed manual transmission floor-mounted mechanism introduced in september 1953, replacing the clunky column-mounted gear lever. This was rover’s response to the dislike of many motorists for the steering column gear change with its complex linkages. The shape of the new lever still allowed three people to make use of the front bench seat.

bob dearborn, tester at road & track stated in 1952 i honestly believe (barring the rolls-royce) that there is no finer car built in the world today.,.

only 3299 of these vehicles were produced in 1957 which featured the shortest production run for any production year.

few remain.
ulez compliant

this particular example was the property a dedicated member of the rover p4 owners club who owned the vehicle for nine years.
at some point in it’s life it has had the interior leather seats changed from the oxblood red to the current cream hide interior, but the original seats are available they will need restoring.

a replacement steering box is also supplied, as the one which is fitted with either need reconditioning or replacing.

the engine starts willingly and runs beautifully. And though the brakes function, they will need re fettling.

the gearbox changes smoothly and appears to function correctly in all the gears.

the body work is in excellent condition for its age, as can be seen from the pictures and at some stage very early on in its career, the car has had paint work, which must have been professionally and honestly executed.

the headlining is finished in rolls royce quality west of england cloth, with the wood veneer interior, instruments, steering wheel etc all in excellent condition.

registered as a historic vehicle, with numbers that match, the vehicle has its v5 and other interesting documentation. The vehicle is provided with a set of spare keys, a spare wheel, a second spare wheel.
a very original and unmolested example which with very little work would provide hours of luxury motoring fun. An extremely rare garage find.

any inspection welcome. We offer a door to door delivery service nationwide and ship internationally.
