1986 Rover SD1 3500 SE EFi Auto V8 Base model Police Spec

The first registered owner of the car was by the London Metropolitan Police Department Transport Division in 1986. First registered 24 July 1986. UK Registration: C 80 DYX. VIN: SARRRXWV3CM345155
The car was bought by the 2nd owner, who lived in the UK at that time, From Roverpart Wayside Garage (Now RPi Engineering) in 1990,
The previous owner up rated the whole car to look like a Vitesse, rear original boot spoiler as well as larger front airdam

.It has a 2.85 ratio rear axle
• Vitesse 5 speed gearbox
• Up rated front anti roll bar
• Rear anti roll bar
• Stainless Steel wheel nuts
• Vitesse 4 pot brake calipers and discs,(twin brake pipe calipers)
• Polybushed suspension front and rear
• Stainless Steel exhaust
• Twin Kenlow fans
• Vitesse rear badge as well as steering emblem.
• Full re trim in material as close to original as possible
• Unfortunately the fuel injection was removed by the previous owner and fitted with a 4 barrel Holley carb and Offenhauser manifold (I have since replaced the Holley with a new Edelbrock/Weber 500cfm)
• The airconditioning has been adapted to take a Delphi compressor with necessary piping and has the R134a gas.

The previous owner then came to South Africa and brought the car with from the UK. He was a member of the SD1 Club UK and the car is known to the club.

In 1997 a brand new balanced Rover 4.6lt short block was imported from V8 developments UK and fitted with 3.5 Vitesse cyl/heads and a 3.9lt EFi camshaft with double roller timing chain and vernier sprockets. An SD1 front timing cover was also fitted. This is the current motor in the car.

The car was in his ownership for 24 years up and till I purchased it in October 2014.

Documents included:
• Original V5 document showing first registered owner as London Police Dept.
• Purchase invoices from Roverpart Wayside Garage.
• Invoice from V8 developments for 4.6 engine. Engine number # RWV8D003846 shows it as a V8 Developments motor:
• Original import papers and various other invoices.

Some parts to go with:
• New spare upholstery materials, vinyl and cloth
• Cruise control parts (assorted)
• 3.23-1 SA spec differential

The paintwork could be left as is however there is some areas that were touched up when all the police equipment was removed years ago. There is some rust on the tailgate but the rest of the body has no rust. The engine bay will need re painting. The car gets used once a week so does not stand for long periods. The lifters are noisy when engine is hot but oil pressure is good. I am planning on replacing the lifters. The battery is about a year old

The car was registered on the SD1 club UK as a police vehicle
It is still recorded on the DVLA UK.

Price (ZAR) R 65,000.
