**£17,000** for my Targa Twin Plenum Rover SD1 Vitesse.

Vin No ends 345811, about 21st last car off production line. Total 112,657 miles, 58657 miles on the clock + approx 54,000 miles prior to speedo change in 1991. A well-known, rare and prestigious car chosen by CORGI to represent the marque for their recent Vanguard offering. Ill health forces a sale because the owner/enthusiast is unable to deal with issues that may arise. This rare and hitherto ubiquitous car will catch the attention of serious SD1 owner/enthusiasts from home and abroad. MOT until May 2018 no advisories. Taxed & Insured ready to rock n roll for local test drives if requested.

Factory fitted air con in working order but electrically disconnected only due to loose belts. May need re-gassing. Stainless steel exhaust with twin pipes to the rear silencer, fitted 1994, 100% good. Anti-resonance strap and baffle.

The efi engine (No 30A0003852) starts ‘on the button’ without any input from the accelerator. Smooth idle speed during warm-up, under ECU control. Oil pressure 15 to 30 psi. Crankcase ventilation system, plenum innards, throttle plates and idle speed gallery all clean. Idle speed air screw function OK. Minimal idle speed hang-up (requires regular throttle linkage lubrication). Substitute throttle pot RS 319-310 fitted and set as per specification.

Engine cooling system has no vices. Engine temperature remains stable at 100 deg C on the gauge at all normal driving and idle speeds. If the engine bay becomes superheated, idling under a hot sun, the viscous fan coupling engages with its characteristic ‘roar’ to increase cooling air flow. Heavy duty battery in excellent condition.

Good running order, generally smooth drivetrain with Mobil 1 synthetic 0W40 + Molyslip in the LT77 Manual Gearbox, Molyslip in Differential. 30 mph in 5th is a dream. If so inclined, can pootle all day in 3rd behaving like an Auto, even allows clutch controlled launch from rest. Engine oil Halfords part synthetic 15W40.

The car sits at factory ride height. The front suspension is conventional shock absorbers with OE rubber bushes. Rear suspension, slightly hard, is conventional shock absorbers with mixed OE rubber and poly bushes. Transplanted Hella cruise control working OK. Very smooth. Small diameter steering wheel. Original wheel provided. The braking system is unsoiled and working correctly at all four corners. Lubricated with Copper-Ease as appropriate. Stops in a straight line under light or heavy braking. Five original alloys, nearly new tyres, wheel-nuts, and locking wheel-nuts all in very good condition. Pulls in a straight line under acceleration. Steers in a straight line, hands off.

Front and rear spoilers both OE and undamaged. Central locking working on all four doors AND lazy on the rear hatch. Front and rear door window lifts working. Interior door panels all good, signs of local wear on front doors, LH speaker grill needs replacing. Wood has variable wear. Centre console, dash, glove boxes and local wood, all very good. Binnacle cover warped. Pre CD stereo radio/cassette unit works but indicator panel blank. Stereo hi-power speakers in parcel shelf driven by a local amplifier in RH rear inner wing space.

Seats clean and undamaged, likewise headlining, with no sagging. Rear speaker covers sun damaged. Sun bleach on top of rear seat. Instruments are all good and working. All cables, wiring looms, connectors, switches, lights and other functions in good working order. *New horns fitted in a temporary location beneath air filter can. *Headlamp wash components all present but not working. (* nb; latter two issues to fix next time deep chin spoiler is off). Screen wash is OK.

Paint and bodywork in very good condition. No panel dings. Rear N/S passenger door, bottom seam corroded. Sunroof has a small area of peeled lacquer. Side rubbing strips in good unmarked condition but some chromes need re-taping. Front and rear bumpers generally unmarked, bumper chrome in excellent condition. Engine bay suspension turrets paint excellent, other local paint good and free of dirt/oil deposits. No grime. Plenum and other local aluminium clean with dull finish. No oxidation. Engine and local ancillaries, clean and free of grime. No oil leaks. Rubber pipes all OK.

Engine, efi and ignition electrics are good and clean. OE ignition components working OK. Engine oil pressure is good, no knocking. No fluid leaks in brakes, clutch and power steering systems. No water leaks at screens, front bulkhead, sunroof and front/rear drains.

More stuff fitted in the spirit of added safety and cautious zeal. Uprated tail, brake and front indicator lights. Hella GR65 cruise control from vdp efi. Substitute throttle potentiometer. Air con compressor “on” indicator. Fabricated plenum intake hoses. Side rubbing strip chrome stripe restoration. Rear light cluster water leak solution and fixing bolt retention. Aids to radiator cowl removal, central locking relay removal and door handle removal. More at the dedicated website, search for 'vintagemodelairplane'.
