1954 Sunbeam Alpine Mk I SpecialPrice: £39, 500More photos to follow..This car is exceptional value. A rare and beautifully restored Sunbeam Alpine Mk I Special, offered in excellent condition and finished in period Sapphire Blue with a light interior and black soft top. This is a genuine factory-built Alpine Special, identified by its correct ‘S’ chassis suffix, and representing the most desirable and sporting version of the early Alpine. Developed with competition in mind, the Special benefitted from uprated ERA-developed engine specification, giving noticeably stronger performance than the standard Alpine.First registered in October 1954, this car has had just two registered keepers from new. The first owner retained it for over 55 years, before passing to the current vendor. The history file supports the long-term ownership and documents the more recent restoration work. The car has been subject to a complete rebuild and respray and is now presented in very smart order. The Sapphire Blue paintwork suits the flowing aluminium bodywork well and shows nicely, while the chrome work is bright and correctly detailed. The interior has been re-trimmed in cream leather and retains its original character, with the correct dashboard layout, period instrumentation and white steering wheel. The black hood fits well and completes the overall presentation. The odometer currently shows 188 miles, reflecting minimal use since completion of the restoration.Mechanically, the car retains its correct 2, 267cc four-cylinder engine, with the engine number recorded as matching the chassis number on the V5C. As an Alpine Special, it offers a more spirited and engaging drive than the standard model, with strong torque and an evocative 1950s soundtrack. Power is delivered through a four-speed manual gearbox with column change, as originally specified.Genuine Alpine Specials are rare, and examples with this level of ownership history and a fresh restoration are seldom offered. An elegant, usable and highly collectible 1950s British sports car, ready to be enjoyed.Make: SunbeamModel: Alpine Special (Mk I)Year: 1954Chassis: A3015723HROSEngine: 2. 3-litre inline fourTransmission: Four-speed manual, column shiftExterior: Sapphire BlueInterior: Cream leatherLocation: Warminster, WiltshireFor further details and to arrange viewingsContact Richard Hackett
