Seller's comments about 1965' Sunbeam Alpine Series V

Road Tax and MOT exempt Historic car class with black Number plates.

Rare Holbay 1725 engine installed, Alpine White original colour (92) with Black hood and Red interior and wire wheels, the best colour combination/look in my opinion.

For lots more photos and a couple of videos with the engine running to get a better perspective of this vehicle please email me for info and drop box link.

For those that know the Alpine was the first James Bond car, the chassis No is B395007045. The original 1725 engine comes with the car, block No B395007045 & Aluminium head, pistons, rods, crank etc, almost complete, in parts ready for new owner to rebuild if desired.

Registered with the SAOC club ID No 3436.

Comes with extremely good condition canvas soft top as well as the early lightweight Aluminium Hard top (black colour worth at least £1000 with great headlining) which is the nicer and desirable shape, rather than the angular, heavy steel 5 series (2 man lift) hard top.

The soft top hood folds away neatly into the hood bins, rather than sitting on top of the rear bodywork.

Great condition contrasting red leather interior with white piping, new door cards and very good condition black carpets. There are also several spares that come with the with the car.

The bodywork and paint are in great condition and the car has benefited from a newly rebuilt 4 speed gearbox and overdrive by the SAOC Guru J Roseby, including new overdrive wiring loom and relay fitted 22/08/19.

It also has a brand-new Webber carb and manifold conversion completed along with all throttle linkages supplied by Alpine innovations again fitted (14/08/19) An electric fan upgrade has been added to the radiator.

The rear differential has been rebuilt with new bearings and CWP by Tameside transmissions (05/12/2019). The rear axle casing is restored, along with the back plates, drum covers, handbrake rods, cable and replacement rear shocks. (please check the extra drop box photos of the condition).

The wire wheels have been fully refurbished, and powder coated, new rim bands and tyres all round with new chrome spinners to compliment and look superb.

The car has a stainless-steel exhaust and front anti roll bar refurbished.
The engine was serviced in May 19, comprising New Oil & filter, new plug leads, rocker cover gasket, side tappet gasket and cover plate refurbished. Antifreeze change, new coil to distributor wiring. New fuel filter, new Servo and breather pipe hoses including new fire traps. Engine has very good oil pressure.

The front indicators and side lights have been upgraded to LED’s and the lenses and gaskets have been renewed. New centre grill badge bracket and front No plate brackets added as well as new black number plates.

New Clutch master cylinder fitted in February 19. Facet electric fuel pump upgrade by previous owner as well as new rear wheel cylinders, Points, condenser, thermostat. (All receipts available).
Boot has re trimmed side panels, comes with spare wire wheel with good tyre and original jack as well as hexagonal spinner spanner.

The car is 55 years old and looks stunning, it gets attention everywhere it goes and there is still the opportunity for the new owner to improve on and increase the value and desirability of this car and make fully concourse if required.

The current mileage displayed on the speedo is 94593, it’s unknown what the mileage of the Holbay unit is, however there is a spare speedo with the car which shows 54000. There have been 4 previous owners although we believe that the car was taken off the road early on, it was rebuilt circa 1999 – 2000. It was re-registered in 2001 when it was given the G plate registration as shown on the V5. We have photos of this rebuild which come with the car. During this rebuild, the original restoring owner used a few of the earlier series components, which make this car, in my opinion much more desirable and unique than the stock S5. It has the early screen, which allows the aluminium hard top to be used, earlier interior, so that the soft top can be stored in the hood bin, along with the early type steering wheel.
The third owner had the car from 03/2005 – 2015.
The owner prior to me bought the car in 2015, put it through a MOT (receipt for works available) and then left it un-used in his garage. I rescued it early Feb 2019 to put back on the road and enjoy.

The works I have completed were based on long term ownership and trouble-free motoring, however I have found that now owning 2 classic cars, I can’t drive and maintain both. Having fully committed to 2020 with my other classic to shows and events, it’s impossible to drive the Alpine and it needs to be used, rather than sit idle (even though it looks superb in the garage). This is a reluctant sale of the Alpine. Any questions or chat about the car please get in touch.

Always garaged and dry weather use only in my ownership.
