Seller's comments about 1972' Triumph Spitfire
1972 Triumph Spitfire Mk IV 1300cc Only 43, 000 Miles .A rare opportunity to acquire a remarkably original, low mileage Spitfire with just 43, 000 miles from new and only two owners, the first being a retired Squadron Leader. Garage kept and clearly cherished throughout its life. This is an exceptionally honest and unspoilt example. Finished in stunning Pimento Red, the paintwork is virtually unmarked and displays a beautiful lustre with impressive depth of shine. The car presents superbly. The factory panel fit and door gaps remains sharp and consistent throughout, testament to both its originality and careful ownership, something rarely seen on these cars. It retains its original three-spoke steering wheel, original seats, and original dashboard finished in the correct black crinkle finish. The original hood is in near-perfect condition, including a beautifully clear rear window. Both the original half tonneau and full tonneau covers are present. Under the bonnet is exceptional, clean, correct and obviously well cared for. The car retains many original fittings including the correct Tudor washer bottle and original style battery terminals, further reflecting its authenticity and careful preservation. The underside is equally impressive. The floors, chassis, outriggers, sills, front and rear valances are all solid and well protected with Waxoyl, with no signs of previous repair. The body panels, bonnet, doors, rear wheel arches and boot lid are superb, again showing no signs of previous repair. .Mechanically, the car has benefitted from regular servicing and maintenance over the years including, stainless steel exhaust, new clutch, starter motor, ignition coil, battery, clutch, master and slave cylinders, rebuilt carburettor and four matching Pirelli tyres. On the road, the car drives exactly as one would expect of such a low mileage example. It pulls strongly through all gears with a smooth, responsive engine. The gearbox and clutch are both strong, the steering is incredibly light and precise, and the brakes are progressive and confidence inspiring.Supplied with an excellent and comprehensive history file including previous MOTs, original Passport to Service, original Triumph owner’s handbook, original owner’s manual, original tool kit and bag, together with a Haynes workshop manual.A truly outstanding, highly original Spitfire Mk IV 1300 cc, increasingly difficult to find in this condition, with this mileage and provenance. Now classed as a Historic Vehicle, benefiting from free road tax and MOT exemption. However, for complete peace of mind, the car will be supplied with a full 12 months’ MOT.Detailed walk around video available on our YouTube channel Fine Lines Classic Cars.Nationwide mainland UK delivery can be arranged.
