LGT 253D is a superb car that was first registered on the 22nd of March 1966. It is a car we have known very well, supplying it to regular customers over a number of years and being close by in North Yorkshire for the past year. We love having this car, it's a beautiful, highly reliable car and it always seems to sell quickly. The Vitesse drives exceptionally well having only completed little over 5000 miles since its rebuild, the overall recorded mileage is around 62, 500 miles.Introduced in 1962 as a fast luxury saloon, The Triumph Vitesse used a gutsy, smooth six-cylinder 1600cc engine on a Triumph Herald based chassis. Saloon, Convertible and a few Estate versions were built, the interior and engine being uprated to 2 litre in 1966, a Mark 2 version being launched in 1968 with a 2-litre engine. This is a late model of the early 1600cc car. Finished splendidly in Wedgewood blue with mid blue interior this Triumph is a real time warp car, having lived most of its life in South Norfolk, and restored in 2012 to a very high standard. We first took the car in from one of our regular customers in Essex as a part exchange, within his ownership, the Vitesse was treated to new discs and pads, a new radiator and a water pump. When preparing the car the first time we sold it, the car wanted for nothing other than a new steering rack which was fitted before delivery. As part of the most recent round of preparation in December of 2024, we carried out a full service, replaced the fan belt, replaced both rear bearings, rear wheel cylinders, and the rear trunnion bushes were reconditioned. The Triumph has returned to our showroom in excellent driving condition. The engine runs perfectly and is strong, smooth and sounds silky smooth. With a recent new clutch and rebuilt gearbox, the gear changes are slick, and the Triumph handles and brakes like new. On one of the previous occasions we owned the car, we enjoyed a long run on the East coast, taking the Triumph to Scarborough where we made a comprehensive video that can be viewed on our website. Everything appears to work correctly and it's clear the Triumph has been very well detailed during recent ownership. The Vitesse presents beautifully with lovely, paintwork, bright chrome and a gorgeous re-trimmed interior. The Blue Vinyl is clean, tidy and well fitted, carpets are very clean and door cards, dash and headlining are all lovely. This is a perfectly usable, excellent driving Triumph that is ideal for shows, regular or weekend use, having had a high-quality restoration a few years ago, it has the appearance and feel of a low mileage, high quality car.
