However, it has been converted to electric by Electric Classic Cars in Wales by Moggy and his team. The Beetle features heavily on their website, so they must like it. The paperwork suggests that it started life in California and appears to have spent some time in Texas, both good dry states. The UK paperwork comes with lots of information on the previous owners and HPi report that states that it has only had 3 owners in the UK. When it had its conversion, the brakes and suspension were made to be efficient in modern traffic. The VW is fantastic to drive and a great experience with no drama. This extremely rare Beetle will save you money on fuel, road tax and even congestion charge if that affects you, as well as servicing and maintenance. The Beetle also has gained fame by being the auction prize on Red Nose Day in 2022 in which it made a lot of money for charity. It comes with a lot of paperwork, both from the UK and the US and even has its spare keys and the original folder from the charity. We are grateful to the vendor for providing the following information: “This Volkswagen Beetle is a wonderfully presented and ‘restomodded’ example of the beloved German classic, which has been transformed into a fully electric vehicle by Electric Classic Cars. It is now powered by a 70bhp electric motor, driving the rear wheels via a four-speed transmission, drawing its energy from a 21kWh battery pack. This example is understood to have a range of up to 100 miles depending on driving style and conditions. Previously registered overseas, this left-hand drive 1965 Beetle was imported into the UK and registered with the DVLA in November 2015. The car was converted to fully electric power in 2017 by Electric Classic Cars. A recognisable car to those who tuned in to 2022 Comic Relief; this electric Beetle was raffled for charity as part of the TV event, raising more than £1, 000, 000 in the process. This Beetle is finished in the charming hue of Bahama Blue over a Bone vinyl-trimmed interior, featuring beige cloth seat inserts, and a body-coloured dashboard. It rides on a set of 15-inch steel wheels finished in gloss-black and Bahama Blue with chrome hub caps, shod in Conker Classic whitewall tyres. The factory specification includes a rear window venetian blind, a two-bar steering wheel, push-out front quarter light windows, elasticated door card pockets, a sunroof, and an under-dashboard storage shelf. This example now features a E-xpert Pro battery monitor. The car comes with a spare key, 76 pages of paperwork, a spare wheel, and two charging leads with black fabric storage bags. This Beetle’s most recent maintenance was conducted in February 2022 by Electric Classic Cars, which consisted of a new 12-volt race battery and a new EVCC charge controller being fitted. This Volkswagen Beetle is a wonderfully presented and ‘resto-modded’ example of the ever-popular classic, which has been transformed into a fully electric vehicle by Electric Classic Cars. Presented with an endearing Bahama Blue finish and boasting instantly recognisable classic styling with modern electric underpinnings, it would make a charming companion for daily driving, weekend drives, and visits to classic car shows alike.” Please feel free to come and see this fantastic Beetle and we hope you are as impressed with it as we are.
