1971' Volkswagen Beetle

Welcome to the sale of our tax exempt, 1971 1300 Beetle (not a Super Beetle but the more sort after flat screen).  She is a real head turner in the summer with the chrome trim and wheels being set off by the really deep blue colour.  Since our ownership she's spent the winters wrapped up in the garage to try and preserve her.  She was taken out of the garage 2 weekends ago (prior to MOT) and did a straight run to Brean and back without missing a beat.  A reliable car that could be used as a daily commuter. 

The roll top is brilliant and adds to the look.  Since purchasing the vehicle we've not see another with the same type of roof. 

She's 45 years old, so not 100% perfect.  As you can see from the photos, the underside has been cleaned off and sealed and looks good.  The bodywork is good but there are a few areas of bubbles appearing.  The Beetle has also been fitted with an immobiliser and a USB stereo. The spare wheel has been greased up to stop the rust and the compartment is solid (common problem).  We've replaced the seat covers and they just need to be finished off around the bases and 'lifting arm'...

 She starts first time and runs like a dream.

The engine code is AB33... which we believe is correct for 1971 (engine code used between 1970-73).  The chassis code is 11307..., again correct for the year of manufacture. 

  The vehicle has some historical paperwork including several previous MOT.  The documents indicate:

MOT Feb 2004 - Mileage 2965 miles
The vehicle was then SORN Mar 2005 and 2008.
MOT Jul 2010 - Mileage 4499
The vehicle was then SORN Mar 2010.
MOT Jul 2011 - Mileage 4636
MOT Jul 2012 - Mileage 4642
MOT Feb 2014 - Mileage 4649
MOT Jun 2015 - Mileage 5962
MOT Jun 2016 - Mileage 7078
MOT May 2017 - Mileage 8089. 
The current MOT is due to expire on the 8th Jun 2018.

I would not suggest that this is the original mileage but it does give an indication of the amount of miles she's done over recent years.  This is a truly reluctant sale and will be sorely missed by the family.  However, we also have other projects to complete (a late Bay Window, an MGB GT and a 110 Land rover) so something has to go....

The standard beetle wheels will be included in the sale if desired, as well as a new set of carpets and the very used manual.

Viewing is highly recommended but please remember she's 45 years old and not fitted with PAS etc....
