Seller's comments about 1954' Volkswagen Beetle Rhd Oval Beetle Original

This car is amazing for her age. She is over 62 years old and she has never been welded or messed about with at all. Everything works. SEEING IS BELIEVING – serious purchasers are encouraged to view the car in SHREWSBURY SHROPSHIRE UK.
56K miles original miles showing on the speedo, believed to be correct from new. The car was first registered in NZ on 1st January 1955. The car is UK registered and shows the correct date of 1st registration.
This Beetle is a 1954 model with all the features of that year including ribbed door panels and “heart” rear lights. She was assembled in the Jowett factory in New Zealand after Jowett production ceased in 1954. The workforce at Jowett were kept in employment by assembling CKD Volkswagen Beetles. CKD stand for Complete Knock-Down which refers to the fact the cars required assembling away from the factory in Germany. VW were able to pay lower import duties by shipping the cars as parts in crates to be assembled in NZ by local workers. The car is painted in what is believed to be a Jowett blue that was left over from the Jowett production. Apparently, there were small numbers of early New Zealand CKD produced cars that were painted in non VW standard colours. This suggests that this is one of the earliest CKD cars to be assembled when production commenced in 1954. The upholstery is mottled Ivory with matching blue piping with the original carpets, mats and mohair headlining which are all fantastically preserved.
The car runs and drives very well on the original 1192cc, 36hp engine with 6 volt electrics. The bodywork is amazing and untouched. Door gaps and panel fit are fantastic. The car may have had some paint early in its life but you will see that would have been very early on, as it has aged perfectly. There are various marks in the paint around the car consistent with 62 years use but nothing that warrants any kind of attention.
I could go on about the car all day but she is truly a unique and original VW that will only be sold to someone who intends to cherish and preserve her in her current condition. You NEVER get originality back. A unique and wonderful RHD original Oval. £27,995.00
