The 1979 VW T2B Viking is a final-year 'Late Bay' window camper van, renowned for its spacious and innovative Viking roof conversion. This model is often sought after because it represents the peak of the original air-cooled Volkswagen Type 2 production before the introduction of the T3 (Vanagon). The Viking conversion, particularly the Super Viking, was famous for being one of the largest pop-top roofs available:Massive Sleeping Space: Unlike standard pop-tops, the Super Viking roof slides out to create a huge sleeping area that can accommodate up to six people (often configured as 2 adults and 4 children or 4 single beds).
