The absolute ultimate VW Split Screen Camper Van! Fully restored to the highest possible standard and specification here at UK Sports Cars. If you are looking to buy one of these, make no mistake that this is ‘the one to have’ from all angles but especially in terms or specification. To start with, this is a 100% Genuine German built and factory supplied Right Hand Drive bus delivered to the UK in 1965. The original identification plate is present to confirm its authenticity from factory. Even the original paint sticker on the bulkhead is still intact! These kind of rare original features hold crucial significance when buying one of these. Before restoration began, this was without a doubt the most solid UK Right Hand Drive bus we have ever seen, almost as though the bus had been time warped from the 1960’s. The previous owner was a long time employee of Alan Schofields Ltd, who are one of the most renowned Classic VW parts suppliers in the country, so it was expected that the bus would have been very carefully selected from the off.This bus formed an ideal basis for a sympathetic restoration, so we stripped back the entire shell and fully repainted it in year correct and all time favourite original Volkswagen colours, Titian Red & Beige Grey. The paintwork has been prepared to a glass like shine throughout and looks stunning from every angle.At the same time we decided to fit a vertically elevating pop-top roof conversion, which is one of the most popular conversions / upgrades you can do to a split screen, allowing for additional space inside. The Space Roofs vertical pop top roof conversion is an amazing product featuring gas strut assisted elevation, a high quality fabric canvas with zip opening plastic windows all round to let light in and allow for ventilation, grab handles throughout and an insulated roof lining to finish off the inside. This makes for an enormous difference in comfort when camping.This is a bus we sold to a customer of ours a few years ago who has kept it since in a heat-controlled garage on a trickle charger and only used in on special occasions, ensuring it has been maintained meticulously throughout his ownership.Mechanics & ElectricsNew 12V wiring loom installed with all electrics working in superb order.New 1641cc engine with all new ancillaries fitted at the time of restoration. This is a 3-person seat that folds down into a luxurious and comfortable 6’ double bed.• Bespoke cabinet veneered in the highest quality oak with high gloss black Formica top and cupboard housing a double gas burner unit. Twin facing rear seating allowing for a total of 5 people to sit around the table.• High gloss black Formica table with chrome pedestal arrangement allowing detachment of table with ease.
