1971 VW T2 Bay Window Camper Van – Previously Restored. Devon Pop Top Roof. Right Hand Drive. A presentable bus of a desirable year retaining early features but with the benefit of front disc brakes. This bus has an enormous history file with MOT certificates dating back to the early nineties showing the slow progression of mileage. The odometer reads 66, 000 which looks to be the genuine mileage, we encourage anyone concerned about mileage to form their own opinion on this. Either way, a vehicle of this age is not mileage sensitive with regards to value. The bus is a factory supplied Right Hand Drive vehicle with walk through specification with the split bulkhead that allows you to go from the driving cabin area to the rear without having to exit the vehicle. Reconditioned 1600TP engine installed some time ago that has been well serviced and runs well with a good power output. Gearbox and brakes all feel strong, and the bus presents well mechanically. This bus was restored around 10 years ago and there are photographs and documentation outlining work that was done around this time. The bus presents well for a 55-year-old vehicle and has not been heavily modified like so many, often destroying the original character and charm that have made these buses so iconic and well recognised. The chrome work also looks great.The front seats and door cards have just been beautifully reupholstered by our trimmer (September 26) in Sea Blue vinyl with cream piping and fluted inserts. There is a brand new full front carpet set from Madmatz also to complement this. The bus is very comfortable, and the driving position is ideal. The interior features a ¾ width rock n’ roll bed which is a two person forward facing seat to carry rear passengers that folds down to make a large double bed. There is cabinetry down the long side of the bus with plenty of storage space and a SMEV sink / double gas burner combo unit. The pop top roof operates and has its original canvas from factory. Overall a great bus for a sensible price.Comes with 12 months MOT even though no longe required by law for peace of mind and to offer a third party unbiased inspection as to the roadworthiness of the vehicle.
