Willys Four Sedan. Extremely rare, completely unmodified pre-war American small four-door saloon. Manufactured in 1937 by the newly restructured Willys-Overland Motors, a company which would become better known for the Jeep, the Four Sedan uses a similar 2. 2 litre four-cylinder sidevalve engine (with the benefit of slightly higher compression) and three-speed manual floor change gearbox. It’s rare to find one of these that hasn’t been turned into a hot rod, but this example has survived intact and still features its original engine and gearbox. The body is still all metal and extremely solid throughout (just the bottom of one door has some slight bubbling) but the rest is very good. It’s obviously been the subject of restoration at some time and it still looks very presentable. The chassis and floors are also very sound and I have been through the car and recommissioned the brakes, overhauled the carburettor and distributor, cleaned out the fuel tank and now it runs and drives nicely. There are also some great original features still intact, like the catch for the rearward hinged bonnet, the headlights and foglights, and the instrument panel and knobs. There is some minor tinkering still required – the wipers need sorting, and the speedo doesn’t work, but there’s not much, and you could use it as it is. I bought the car over a year ago and had great plans for it, but sadly there are too many others in the queue and only so much time so it is reluctantly for sale. UK registered with V5 in my name
