Registered 24 March 1937 in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Good running order. Bodywork and interior require work. I have many more photos including interior close ups if you would like to see more, please email request and I will include in my reply.
Part of the revised Austin range introduced for the 1935 season, this six-cylinder 18hp car is the long wheelbase York saloon coachwork. A six-light design mounted on the extended chassis, the York model has a Pytchley sliding roof, low floor, wide doors, large windows and separately adjustable front seats. Equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes, the 18hp is powered by a 2511cc sidevalve straight-six allied to four-speed manual transmission. Although no sportscar, it was reputedly capable of 65mph and 20mpg. Full price was at £328, colour Black with interior trimmed in Hide front (still original) and Bedford Cord rear (replaced). this car does not have the occasional seats which were an added extra. Well regarded machines, the six-cylinder 16hp and 18hp cars are thought to have accounted for 12,731 sales between 1935 and 1937. Though, today survivors are few and far between.

Finished in black with tan leather and beige cord coloured upholstery, this car has been owned by me since 1980. during the 1980's it had a full body respray, engine total overhaul with cylinder rebore, crank regrind, new bearings and top end overhaul. Recent works include top end decoke and new exhaust.

Kept garaged/dry stored when not in use, this is a rare and imposing York saloon which is now looking for a new home and an enthusiast who has time to restore him (William) to his former glory.
Following are recent wedding Willy has completed his journey with us.
Currently in dry storage as we have recently moved and no longer have a garage, (hence sale) I would be very happy to arrange viewing or if you would like to chat about it please phone.
Cheers Paul
