This absolutely dialed-in truck gets any job done in style. Big, bold, beautiful, and wearing a wicked coat of dark blue paint, this 1970 Ford F-100 Sport Custom 4x4 shortbed truck is ready to show, play, or take you just about anywhere you want to go. Its been expertly restored to a high-quality level not often seen on vintage trucks, and thanks to 4-wheel-drive and an incredibly strong 302 V8 under the hood, its one of the better runners youll ever find as well. Classic 4x4s are finally getting the respect they deserve in the collector car hobby, and beautiful trucks just like this frame-off restored Ford are the reason. In the 70s, if you needed stuff hauled, no matter how big, this was how you did it. As a result, finding a truck that hasnt been bashed and worked to within an inch of its life is no easy task. Fortunately, before this one was nut-and-bolt restored, it led an easier life of leisure in the American South, perhaps scouting remote hunting grounds or trekking across fields to get to a private fishing spot. And the result of all that gentle care, coupled with a comprehensive restoration, is a body so laser straight you could set a construction workers level to it. The incredibly deep and shiny Deep Impact Blue Metallic paint that covers the slick sheetmetal was borrowed from the 2013 Mustang palette, and the fresh paint looks stunning on the tough 1970 Ford design. It wasnt meant to be perfect and its been driven and enjoyed a little since the work was completed, but the restorers really executed the finish and bodywork to a very high standard and youd be hard-pressed to find a vintage 4x4 with this kind of curb appeal. Youll dig the new Sport Custom stainless trim, as well as the heavy-duty chrome bumpers that make it look well-dressed for any occasion. Up front the egg-crate grille is brand new, out back the tailgate trim shines bright, and the dark blue paint is further contrasted with stainless wheel-arch trim and the oversized Camper Special side mirrors. The highly-desirable short wheelbase bed was professionally finished with a spray-in bedliner so you can still use it as a truck if need be, and youll note that the gas tank was relocated from behind the seat, which is a great safety measure that also frees up more room inside the cab. Bottom line, this is just a really super-clean, heavy-duty pickup thats ready for new adventures. Super-clean is the theme inside, too, where an upgraded buckskin vinyl seat cover for the factory bench offers comfortable accommodations for three. Beautifully stitched door panels match the seat and feature black armrests for contrast, the headliner is taut and wrapped in buckskin vinyl as well, while the durable black vinyl matting on the floor was neatly installed and means clean-up is a breeze, while also continuing the Fords heavy-duty theme. The dash was smoothed and painted to a level that matches the bodywork, and it features a chrome instrument panel filled with elegant white-faced Dolphin gauges that add a touch of sophistication inside. The original dual-ring steering wheel was retained and restored, and the tall shifter that manages the 4-speed manual transmission is just an easy reach away. Just like in 1970, options are sparse, although you do get a set of seatbelts, a heater/defroster, and an upgraded AM/FM/Cassette stereo inside the factory dash slot. And no pickup truck is complete without a big rear window, which provides 360 degree views and a cool fishbowl feel for everyone inside. This is a big truck, but fortunately, theres a big V8 to move it around. The 302 V8 is a swapped-in block that was built to hammer down ample horsepower and lots of torque, complete with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and performance intake up top that help it run great. Its been dressed for success with shiny Ford Racing valve covers, a chrome open-element air cleaner, neatly organized wiring and hoses, and Ford Blue enamel on the block that contrasts the clean inner fenders. It has obviously been detailed to be shown off with pride and it starts, idles, and runs extremely well thanks to proper tuning and maintenance. The rumble from the long-tube headers that feed the Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds more like a vintage muscle car than a big pickup, and well admit that we like it a lot. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the 4-wheel-drive system engages without any drama, so its always ready to rock both on and off the trails, and because of the Skyjacker lift and heavy-duty Bilstein 3100 shocks, it can pretty much go anywhere it darn well pleases. The chassis is rust-free and incredibly clean, and with heavy-duty axles and manual locking hubs, you dont have to worry about fragile parts getting broken at the least opportune moment. Power steering and power front disc brakes are always welcomed options, and those killer 20-inch Fuel wheels wear big 35x12.50-20 Nitto Trail Grappler all-terrain tires with plenty of tread. This beautifully restored 4x4 truck is definitely up for whatever youre looking to do, and thanks to the heavy-duty hardware, youll never have to worry about getting stuck. 4x4 Ford trucks are hard to come by, especially in slick packages like this.
