Atalanta (in Greek mythology this Goddess was renowned for her swiftness of foot). Atalanta Motors was a very prestigious motor car company before the war (WWII). Postwar, Richard G. Shattock (RGS) purchased the company because of its wonderful suspension and frame design, so he could manufacture premium automobiles and race cars. These cars were equipped with Bentley, Aston Martin, Lea Francis, Lincoln 12 cylinder and Jaguar engines. Most Atalanta were supplied in kit form and the new owner would selected which components to use. This is one of the few rare factory works cars. Own one of the five famous racing marques that were powered by Jaguar engines: Atalanta, Cooper, HWM, Lister and Tojeiro.

This vintage race car is in restored condition. Still has its original alloy body (most Atalantas were fiberglass), frame with unique suspension and Jaguar Racing engine. Motor number for RGS Atalanta Jaguar is F-1632-8. Talked with Jaguar Archives and confirmed that the engine was built in 1953.
