The Mercedes-Benz W113 SL was launched at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show as the replacement for the popular W121 SL 190. Penned by Mercedes' lead designer Paul Bracq as principally a two-seater luxury sports touring convertible with a slightly concave hardtop, which inspired the “Pagoda” nickname. All models were equipped with six-cylinder engines with multipoint fuel injection. The bonnet, boot lid, door skins and tonneau cover were made of aluminium to reduce weight, this combined with excellent suspension, powerful brakes made for superb handling. Boasting 150bhp with the option of either an automatic or manual transmission the 230 SL was capable of speeds in excess of 120 mph making for effortless European touring.

The Mercedes-Benz 230 SL RHD Pagoda offered here at Autostorico was first registered on 8th April 1965. Finished in Mercedes Gunmetal Grey metallic with Red MBTex interior and Black soft top. This stunning example has undergone a comprehensive restoration by Automo Classic Car’s Ltd. Work started with the removal of the engine, gearbox and other mechanical components ready for stripping the body. Several new panels were fitted prior to a bare metal respray. The car has also been subject to full mechanical overhaul including engine, gearbox, braking and suspension system. Other notable works included; re-wire, re-trim including all wooden parts and chrome work.

Offered for sale with its factory hardtop, current V5 registration document and a history file containing numerous invoices and other related material.
