This 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 GT is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. This beautiful piece of automotive art was a California car for most of it life. The current owner bought the Cougar in 2010 and got a little crazy with the build. A full rotisserie restoration was began, but the restoration was intended to bring this Cougar back to factory original, but to make it something nicer, that any true Hot Rodder or Gear Head could appreciate. To insure this cat would be a better handling car than when new, a Total Cost Suspension was added. It consists of removing the shock towers and upgrading to a complete coil over suspension. Wilwood disc brakes have also been added to all four corners. This 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 GT is powered by its 390 Windsor CID V8 Engine and is backed by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission. The 390 V8 has been upgraded with Edelbrock aluminum heads, aluminum intake, a roller cam, full length ceramic headers with stainless steel exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. The ignition system has been upgraded with MSD components, so the 500 hp 390 FE gets all the sparks it needs. To keep this high horsepower V8 cool, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans has been installed. The C6 automatic transmission has been upgraded using TCI Street Fighter components. Finishing off the drive line is a Ford 9 inch rear end upgraded with Richmond Power Trax Grip Pro with 3.89 gears. The Cougar has been repainted to its original factory color, Inverness Green. The XR7 GT has all new chrome and trim thank s a complete West Coast Classic Cougar chrome package. The old sequential tail lights are upgraded to digital units so they will be rock solid reliable for years to come. The front hideaway headlight doors have also upgraded to electric pieces, so you’ll never have to deal with a lazy eyed Cougar. The hood scoop has been molded into the hood and a set of billet hood hinges have been added. Finishing off the exterior is a set of 17” Eleanor style wheels with Sumitomo Radial tires. The interior consists of the original dash and door panels, but as with the rest of the cat, there upgrades here as well. The seats, carpet, headliner is new, and an Ididit steering column has added. The Cougar has a full Marti Report to go with it, along with tons of receipts from the owner. In his own words, “you couldn’t build the car for the asking price”, so reap the fruits of labor, before someone else makes this cat their new prized pet! Options on this 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 GT include; AM/FM radio with CD player, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Seat Belts, and Rally Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires.
