1976' MG Midget

The MG Midget was built from 1961 to 1979. It revived a name that had been used on earlier models such as the MG M-type and MG D-type. The MG Midget 1500 was introduced to meet US regulations, large black plastic bumpers were added to the front and rear and the ride height was increased. The increased ride height affected handling, and an anti-roll bar was added to help with higher centre of gravity. The A-Series engine was replaced by the 1493 cc unit from the Triumph Spitfire, coupled to a modified Morris Marina gearbox with synchromesh on all four gears. The increased displacement of the new engine was better able to cope with the increasing emission regulations.


This example is a 1976 MG Midget, with a genuine 60,000 miles, and only 441 miles added in the past four years with current owner. The car had a complete strip down restoration in 2010/11 with photos showing the work that was done. The car is said to have straight bodywork, with black seats in good condition, a sports steering wheel, the soft top in good condition, and it is fitted with a roll-over bar. Part of a private collection, a very genuine MG Midget in good condition.
