1973 Volkswagen Thing
Originally developed for the West German Army, the Type 181 was also sold to the public, as the Kurierwagen in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973–74), Civilian sales ended after model year 1980. The Thing has capture the desire from buyers as a quirky import that very few other people had. Today, its retro and unique look screams summer beach cruiser and its rarity makes it a really cool collector's item. This '73 VW Thing in Sunflower Yellow was imported and rarely used. Only seeing time on the road as a fair-weather summer cruiser.

This model is a perfect car for the Volkswagen enthusiast, no matter if you want a restoration project or a unique car (almost) ready to drive every day, this car is for you. It’s a good solid car with minimal rust and minimal work required to make it an everyday driver.
This car starts and runs nicely and only needs brakes and a windshield to get it back on the street.
Interior heat is provided by a factory installed Eberspächer gas-fired heater, mounted under the front hood, which worked independently of the engine. This was a costly option in 1973! The cost was $2,750, not cheap when a basic 1973 Sedan cost $2,299
Other than brakes and a windshield all this car needs is a little TLC to make it a wonderful first car for a teen, second car for a small family or weekend driver for that couple looking to relive their glory days jamming to The Grateful Dead or Hendrix with the wind blowing in your hair.
