I have owned this van for some years now and only decided to put the Lancashire Constabulary Livery on a couple of years ago. I have been in touch with PCUK, an incredible club with some of the best collection of British Police vehicles ever seen, and although there is no surviving evidence of its authenticity there are a few tell tale signs that it was once an emergency vehicle. One of them being that it has powerful 4 pot brake calipers and discs only fitted to emergency vehicles. Everything on this van has period correct equipment and in perfect working order. It has had a sympathetic complete paint job 2 years ago and looks stunning. She gets great interest from children, woman, Classic car owners AND the police. It’s appreciated wherever I take it and I use it as a daily driver.
She was originally a petrol van and has had a diesel conversion sometime in her life and since before I have owned her. I have upgraded the engine to a 2.5 Banana engine and a MT75 5 speed gearbox. I have spent quite a few quid in keeping her upgraded and safe to use. I take her to France about 7-9 times a year and really attracts attention there too. So I have had the prop changed from a single prop to a 2 piece prop with bearing hanger.
This van is 101% relliable and I absolutely love driving her. I will give a reason for selling, my partner drives it more often than I do as she has more time off that I do and drives it to France on her own. However, she has had enough of the attention it creates and has recently refused to drive her again so we agreed to let her go and look for something a little less inconspicuous. It has a tow bar and rear step. Period correct Sharp radio cassette. Brand new dash cam. NOS wing mirrors. NOS quarter lite windows and frames. New windscreen rubber. New head liner, NOS number plate lights. NOS rear bumpers. New rear window rubbers. And much more to remember. A great piece of British history.
A great van for film work, advertising or the avid collector. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to view. THE PRIVATE PLATE DOES NOT COME WITH THE VAN.
