1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Lowrider / Low for ShowThe world is full of contrasts – luck and misfortune, day and night, up and down.The latter describes the main characteristic of a lowrider very well:Using a sophisticated hydraulic system, the body of a lowrider can be raised and lowered, tilted to the side, or even made to dance across the asphalt. Classic American coupes and convertibles from the 1960s and 1970s, such as those from Chevrolet or Cadillac, are considered icons of this style.But a lowrider is far more than a bouncy car – it's a rolling statement. Its roots go back to the 1940s, when Mexican-American youths in California deliberately contrasted themselves with the emerging hot rod scene and rejected the motto "faster is better". Their credo was: low and slow – as the music group "War" sang about in their song "Lowrider" back in 1975. Instead of top speed, style, individuality, and technical perfection were what counted.The attributes couldn't be more fitting for this 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible, which we are offering here on behalf of the owner. Unfortunately, nothing further is known about the history of this vehicle, but we do know about the extensive, meticulous work that has made this Chevrolet Impala SS convertible a truly unique lowrider:Frame-off restoration including a newly galvanized vehicle frame, complete rebuild of a small block engine with stroker kit and aluminum heads (now with approx. 400 cui and 500 hp) by Barretta-Motors GmbH from Munich, hydraulic suspension, chrome everywhere you look in the engine compartment, on the front and rear axles, on the door components, the soft top, the interior and much more.Currently, this Chevrolet Impala SS convertible does not have road registration and also does not have a valid MOT inspection certificate.
