This Ferrari Red colored Ford Escort mk2 came off the production line in 1977 as a 1600 Ghia automatic, but over the years the car has been completely overhauled and transformed into a road legal racing car. The combination of the light weight of the Escort combined with 300+ hp has already proven to be a nightmare for many other ‘fast’ road cars. Both the exterior and the interior are in very good condition. Instead of bills and the service history of the car there is a photo report that includes the conversion and the work which is done over the past years.
Chassis • All welding and modifications for the Cosworth engine conversion have been professionally engineered by RS Rebuilding at Esbeek, such as: • Boreham Tarmac alloy wheel arch kit (Gartrac) • Group 4 front spoiler (Gartrac) • Widened diff. tunnel, 4-link welding parts, and Turrets. • Watts linkage brackets • Raised trunk bottom for extra space diff • Modified chassis beams for extra rear axle movement
Engine The engine overhaul was carried out by JB Techniek at Ravels Belgium. The cylinder head preparation and fine-tuning to 300+ hp have been carried out by HB Motorsport at Middelbeers. Sierra Cosworth YB 2.0 liter 16V engine with flowed cylinder head, completely overhauled late 2017. • Garrett T3 Hybrid Turbo, 360 degrees bearing, MSD chip, overhauled in November 2018 by Turbo Service Belgium • Green Bosch injectors, 3 Bar map sensor, larger intercooler, -34 actuator, dump valve. • Custom down pipe with full 3 inch stainless steel exhaust system • Silicone cool and intercooler hoses • Airtec radiator / intercooler combination • All sensors renewed • Engine breathing system with catch tank and silicone hoses
Trunk • PrepFab alloy / baffled fuel tank including filler bowl • Two petrol pumps: Facet Red Top and Filter King pressure regulator in alloy mounting bracket • 15 inch widened steel spare wheel with Toyo R888 tire • Battery in alloy mounting bracket
Transmission • Borg Warner T5 Sierra Cosworth gearbox • Modified / reinforced one-piece intermediate shaft • Fully Floating Atlas rear axle with 3J’s limited slip differential and 18 spline Group1 two piece half shafts • Fully 6 linked set-up + alloy diff cover
Steering, Suspension and Brakes • All around Bilstein coilover shock absorbers • Front brakes: Brembo 4 Pot calipers with 304 mm discs with aluminum center • Aluminum hubs on front wheels • Rear brakes: new Sierra Cosworth calipers with discs • Ferodo DS2500 brake pads all round • Braided brake lines • Front Compression strut kit • 15 inch widened steel wheels satin black coated • Toyo R888 semi-slicks • Alloy adjustable Top Mounts • Group 4 strut brace
