Something for the real connoisseurs: a beautiful Jensen Interceptor. British GT built at the Kelvin Way Factory near Birmingham from 1966 to 1976. Unlike the first vehicle of the same name, which was built in the 1950s and was largely fibreglass, the engineers returned to steel for the featured vehicle. And the sleek coupe's design wasn't done by just anyone - it was created under the direction of Federico Formenti of Carrozzeria Touring in Italy. The first few pieces were also made there (by Vignale for a change) before production moved to the UK with minor changes. In total, some 6, 408 cars were built in three versions, with several hundred being convertibles. Jensen used V8 engines from Chrysler. It started with a 383 cui (6. 3 litre) engine, which could be fitted with a manual gearbox, but most cars had a TorqueFlite automatic. This transferred power to the Salisbury's rear axle via a self-locking differential. In the early 1970s, it came in virtually two versions - the basic Interceptor Mk I, II and III and then the S. P. version, which had a more powerful 7. 2 litre engine under the bonnet. Of course, even the "base" in the case of such a unique car is not bad - recall that the V8 383 excels with 245 hp at 4800 rpm and 441 Nm at 3400 rpm (this is the power that actually gets to the wheels, the horsepower gross figures are 335 hp and 556 Nm). You can probably tell that the GT, weighing around 1. 8 tonnes, can get a decent amount of torque, and the dynamics, accompanied by a great sound, are more than worthy. The car on offer is in nice, original condition, with minor traces of easily resolved rust. The bottom line is that it is complete and fully functional. Mention should be made of the very nice leather interior, with ample luxury befitting the large GT class. We would add that even the vinyl roof or chrome trims are in very good condition, and the mechanicals work fine as well.
