1976 MGB Roadster 1.8

Please read the advert fully – you are bidding to buy – not to view – I’ve added loads of pictures online and am happy to discuss this car in full via phone on 07530284310

I believe that pictures say more than any description and I’ve put an album, online of over 60 pictures including close-ups and a virtual walk around the car – this can be seen at photobox - please message me for address

I’ve also tried to describe all the good and bad points in my listing – I make no apologies for the length of the listing – I just want a potential buyer to get a good idea of what they are looking at. My listings are very open and honest and together with the pictures, gives you a clear idea of what you are looking at.
In my opinion, this is a very rare opportunity to own an almost unique MGB Roadster – It’s almost a time warp car – I won’t use the phrase “Holy Grail” – but there really can’t be many more like this around. It’s finished in its original colour (when was the last time you saw one in this colour at a show?) – It’s incredibly original even down to under bonnet stickers, the interior is original and unspoilt with a period radio, it’s a genuine low, low mileage car showing just 51,727 miles (this is backed up with every MOT certificate from new) – there’s also a comprehensive history folder as well as many other period items like its handbook and radio fitting kit as well as a brochure from when it was new – but please read the listing below for more details.
It’s in a very period colour for one of these – Harvest Gold with black hood and black interior (not to everyone’s tastes – but very 70’s) and it’s far rarer than the red and green ones which proliferate the classic car scene these days
It has only had 5 owners from new (4 listed on the V5 + myself) and it has a very comprehensive history file with it (one of the best that I’ve seen in ages)
The mileage is extremely low for its year at only 51,727 miles – I do have a VOSA printout to back it up along with every MOT certificate from new (there are some years where it has been off the road – see below for mileage breakdown)

There is a full 12 months MOT until April 2018 – so it’s ready to drive away, use and enjoy

Body work is very, very good, straight and solid – it has had some restoration work and a full repaint, yet it retains many original features which are absent on “restored” cars such as the seams on the rear deck between the cockpit and boot lid and also near the reversing lights as these tend to be filled in on many cars. There are a couple of areas to mention which need attention – the bottom front corner of each door shows bubbling as can be seen in the pictures and also the area above the chrome waist moulding on the drivers side rear wing has had too much paint applied when the car was resprayed and a few small areas of lifting have occurred in this areas – with these areas remedied, you would have a show standard car.
Due to its low mileage, it drives superb and performs exactly as you'd expect a good one to - no overheating or other issues – it handles great – and is good fun to drive.
The engine is very smooth and has that distinctive MGB sound from the exhaust when driving it.
Underbonnet areas are as expected for a car of its age – but its so very original – with a good detailing – it would really make a difference
It has overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears which operates smoothly and engages/disengages quickly. This is controlled by a column switch which in itself is a rare item as this was only used on MGB’s for a short period of time before the switch was relocated to the gearlever on the later cars
Due to lack of recent use, I have given it a good service with new engine oil and filter as well as new plugs, points and condenser along with a replacement brake wheel cylinder on the rear. I have also replaced the clutch slave cylinder and flexi hose as part of a gentle recommissioning process – the new owner will wish to continue this process as they use it.
I would have no worries about getting in this car tomorrow and driving anywhere in it.
Hood is in good condition
The interior is very clean and tidy – The drivers seat bask shows some wear to the vinyl, but the rest of it is as intended.
All gauges, switches etc work as you’d expect. There are some small areas of wear to the black wrinkle finish on the dash where the paint has worn away over the last 40 years. The dash is a rare variant being common with the V8 model and only used for a short time before being changed for a less attractive one (in my opinion) which was then used until the end of production

I do have the full V5 and current MOT with the car

The car is HPI clear with certificate

There is a large folder of invoices dating back to when the car was new including “passport to service” which has many service stamps in it which adds to its history; these are at;

There are two set of keys with the car
It’s a fantastic looking, clean, sports car that looks really smart and will be great fun to run and own. It drives spot on and will give great service to a new owner. It is a gorgeous looking car and is ideal for an enthusiast as an introduction to classic cars or for a collector who knows MG’s. If you are thinking of buying it to convert to chrome bumpers or to modify it, please look elsewhere – this car has survived in its original form for this long and it deserves to be kept in this way. I am a true enthusiast and hope it will go to another person happy to look after it properly

However, the best way to get an impression of a car is to view it - I really do recommend coming to have a look.

I am also a member of the MG Owners Club and the MG Car Club and am a true enthusiast of the MG marque and own several MG’s of my own

This is for collection from Redditch

Any questions - please use the ask seller option or ring 07530284310 – (please don’t just ask “what’s the lowest that you’ll take for it?) - I do recommend viewing this car - I will listen to sensible buy now prices for a quick cash sale - its also listed on several other sites and forums so may be removed at any time
