Meet Hetty, an original UK supplied bus, first registered in Ramsgate, England in September 1966. Restored some years ago, she is now at the stage where she would benefit from a little freshening up, but remains a fantastic looking bus with plenty of character and a story to tell. Some of you may recognise this bus from the show scene, having been a regular sight at events up and down the country over the years. She certainly rings a bell with the team here, and it’s always nice to see a familiar face come around again.Finished in a striking orange and white two-tone colour scheme, with deluxe trim and safari windows. She has all the right ingredients. A proper old-school VW camper with bags of presence.Inside, she retains her Devon interior, with wood-finished cabinetry, grey upholstered seating, curtains and a dining table. The rear seating converts into a bed, with plenty of useful storage provided by the original style cupboards and drawers. It’s a lovely reminder of how these campers were designed to be used and enjoyed.Under the rear lid sits a rebuilt 1776cc air-cooled engine, with the engine and gearbox having been rebuilt. The rebuild is documented in a comprehensive photographic album, and the bus has covered only around 500 miles since the work was carried out.Originally finished in Pearl White and Velvet Green, she has clearly been part of the VW scene for a good many years and has passed through the hands of some knowledgeable owners. One of the real highlights is the history file. Supplied with the bus is a seriously substantial, indexed and numbered binder, carefully put together by a previous owner, a proper VW enthusiast who owned her for many years. It contains a wealth of paperwork, receipts and historical information, along with useful notes and advice on looking after the bus. It’s the sort of history file you don’t come across every day, and a real credit to an owner who has clearly cared about preserving not just the vehicle, but its story too.A characterful, well-known Devon with a fascinating history, a documented engine rebuild and plenty of old VW charm. She’s ready for her next custodian to give her the attention she deserves and enjoy the next chapter of her story.Located at our HQ in Barnstaple, North Devon,National and International shipping available.
