1951 Chevrolet Bel Air
I wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking I got the model year all wrong. But yes, the model year is correct, and yes, that's how old this Bel Air is. The car is fantastic and, in many ways, a historical discovery, as this 1951 car is still unrestored and in a condition that you really wouldn’t expect on a model this old.

The vehicle spent the last 15 years with a collector who knows what these cars are all about, but "at 77, it's time to sell a few." These are his words, as the man decided to sell some of his collectibles, including this fantastic 1951 Bel Air.

While it's difficult to consider this Bel Air roadworthy, it's important to know that all numbers still match. Furthermore, things like the turn signals and the lights are still working, and this is even more impressive when you think that this car was born in 1951.

The engine under the hood is a 235 six-cylinder. No, a V8 wasn't available – a 265 was introduced later in the decade, followed by the almighty 283 in 1957. The six-cylinder unit was the only choice for Chevrolet buyers at first, with General Motors gradually expanding its engine lineup, as its full-size car strategy was making progress.

This Bel Air is 100% complete, but what's even more impressive is how it looks. The interior is 100% original, and while it requires extensive work, this is particularly important for collectors who are willing to pay more dollars just to make sure everything is original. The floors and the trunk are incredible.

This is 75-year-old metal, and so discovering clean floors and a trunk pan is certainly unexpected. This is a sign that the vehicle has always been cared for properly, and I just wish we knew more about previous ownership. You might be able to get more details if you call the seller, and my recommendation is to also arrange a live verification. Checking out this car could feel like a trip to 1951, especially because the 77-year-old owner certainly has fantastic stories to tell.

Otherwise, the car is also fitted with rare options, such as the factory sound deadeners on the floors and the Fram oil filter.

I can't say I'm surprised by the fierce battle that now happens on eBay. The auction received 14 bids in just a few hours online, with the top offer already at $7,400. However, a reserve is still in place, and this Bel Air won't go anywhere until someone unlocks it.

Meanwhile, the vehicle is parked in Clinton, Missouri, and be ready to bring your trailer to take it home. You still have 8 days to submit an offer that triggers the reserve.
