For one thing, actually locating a "barn find" of some sort is difficult. At least it is most of the time. In England, there's effectively a collection of barn finds going up for auction this weekend.
What We Know About It
The collection of vehicles is being auctioned by Tewkesbury Auction Centre this Saturday. It consists of more than 200 vehicles, which are scattered across a large property. Many have been stored outside, some inside. The auction house doesn't give much information about it, but a number of automotive YouTubers have visited the collection. One of them was Old Skull Garage, who spent some time viewing the vehicles. You can see his video below.
We also got in touch with him to see if he had any more background information about how the collection came to be, and why it's being sold off. From what he was able to learn by visiting and talking to people, the owner had been collecting vehicles with the intention of creating some kind of museum that never materialized. He also said that word got out about the collection, which led to some problems.
"Then some urban explorers revealed this site to the public on YouTube. This caused a big problem for them. So people just go in there for a look. I know some cars have been damaged by other people who entered the site. So he was fed up with it. He's still keeping some cars for himself, but he made the decision to sell them."
It's A Strange Group Of Cars
The seller accumulated a truly odd assortment of vehicles, especially if the goal was to create a museum. There are absolutely some very cool and unique machines that are a part of it. In the video, and in photos uploaded by the auction site, we've spotted a number of TVRs and Jaguars. There's also a Jensen Interceptor and a 1970s Aston Martin Vantage. Several pre-war cars can be spotted, and even a few Cadillacs, which are unusual for the area.
The owner clearly had some favorite types of vehicles, too. Loads of MG Bs, Midgets, Land Rover Series IIs, and Jaguars litter the area, all in conditions from nearly non-existent to salvageable. As seen in the Old Skull Garage video, one of those Land Rovers has sat long enough for a tree to grow up through it. The video also highlights an MG B GT with a V8, which would be enormously fun.
Where the collection gets really strange, though, is with all the other vehicles included. There are loads of commercial vehicles. Flat-bed trucks, small vans, box trucks, and tractors are all part of the group. They leave us wondering what exactly the plans were for all these vehicles. Why were there so many duplicates of vehicles? Odds are, we'll probably never learn the answers.
