Totem's Newest Alfa Restomod Has Styling You Want, Twin-Turbo V6 Manual You Need
Alfa Romeo produced five versions of the iconic Bertone-styled Giulia GT (the 105-series coupes) from 1963 to 1977, and Italian restomod specialist Totem Automobili is now paying tribute to one of them with its latest project, the GT Super "Euforia," which was first seen on the roads of Cernobbio during the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

The Euforia is the second project done in tandem with E. Marinella, the luxury sartorial brand based in Naples, Italy, and known worldwide for its silk ties.

While this collaboration results in lavish, stylistic interior appointments and features, what's under the hood might be even more compelling to Alfa Romeo Giulia GT admirers: a 2.8-liter, 640-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V6 developed by Totem together with Italtecnica, paired with a six-speed manual transmission in a rear transaxle configuration. The engine is mounted longitudinally in a central-front position, behind the front axle, under a carbon-fiber hood, and Totem talks up the optimized weight distribution. Let's take a closer look.

Analog Meets Steampunk

It's much more than just the interior of this restomod that gets the bespoke treatment. The Capristo exhaust system has an electronically controlled valve inside the cabin, so the driver can adjust the intensity of the engine’s exhaust note, like a volume knob. Likewise, the driver has lots of options for adjusting the front and rear dampers independently as part of the ORAM electronic suspension system.

Beneath the hood, the steering column remains visible, crafted from carbon fiber and titanium. There's even a horizontal brace under the hood that is wrapped and stitched in the same cobalt blue Nappa leather as found in the cabin.

Paint Dates To Bronze Age Sports Cars

The exterior triple-layer paint is equally impactful, reviving some of the bronze shades of Italian sports cars from the 1970s. The cobalt Nappa leather, covering everything from the instrument panel and seats to the center console and rear package tray, is punctuated by contrast stitching done by hand, as well as hand-printed silk inserts sourced from E. Marinella’s 1985 archive. Of course, if you can afford one of these limited-edition restomods, you'll get the bespoke weekender duffel bag (also in the matching cobalt Nappa leather) and a custom tie case fitted behind the seats.

Some Get Murrina Glass Gearshift

The gear shift knob is a work of art, too, crafted from murrina glass, only available for a handful of cars in Totem’s GT Series. The commissioning client chose the name, “Euforia.” Developed together with Sabelt, the slim seats adjust electrically in six ways and are finished in the same carbon fiber used throughout the car. The headliner? Of course, it's hand-stitched leather with the same pattern to match the fluting of the seats.

"This collaboration demonstrates how traditions that may initially appear distant can meet and engage with one another through shared values: attention to detail, the pursuit of beauty and the desire to create exclusive objects designed to stand the test of time,” said Maurizio Marinella, the third-generation owner and CEO of E. Marinella.
