Commentaires du vendeur sur 1969' Alfa Romeo Spider
The one to have, factory RHD, low ownership and extensive history file, warranted 50k miles from new, matching numbers.
History
Our car is a tipo 10558 model that was supplied new to the UK and exported to Hong Kong, being repatriated in 1982, changing hands from the original Army Captain owner. The second owner, also an expatriate living in Hong Kong kept the Alfa in professional storage in the UK for use on his holidays. It changed hands only for the third time in 2007 and we purchased the car from that gentleman.
This Alfa has benefitted from in period applied Tuff Kote Dinol rust protection. Our car has an extensive service history and MOTs dating back to 1983 verifying today’s recorded mileage of 49,900 as the genuine mileage from new.
An extremely rare and valuable Pininfarina hardtop accompanies the car.
Body
Our car appears to have largely original panelling throughout and has never had a major body rebuild, unlike most of these cars, especially those which have lived in the UK. Every cavity was Dinitrol injected with no fewer than 32 Dinitrol plugs evident and all chassis surfaces have a protective coating.
Panel fit is excellent for one of these cars with crisply shutting doors and good boot lid fit.
The car was repainted in 2012 (receipt on file) and today this paintwork presents beautifully with no discernable marks of any note. The chrome work is equally nice and the car makes for a strong first impression.
The hood is an older Coburn’s replacement (1985) and has some fading although the rear screen is clear and it was water tight on test.
Mechanics
We have over 500 test miles on this car and can confirm it is a hoot to drive. With an engine rebuild under its belt only 8000 miles ago our car performs superbly. The gearbox is equally good and over the years receipted expenditure is on file for the replacement of most of the car’s systems.
A £1300 service was undertaken 750 miles ago and we have just changed the oil and filters as part of our pre sale preparation. The under bonnet is very nicely detailed with many new hoses and clips and much evidence of careful maintenance.
The MOT expires on 27.10.17.
Interior
A feature of the interior are the gauges which are in like new condition.
The carpets, as fitted by Coburn’s, the seats and door cards are all in good condition with some age related marks. An original radio is fitted (inoperative).
The dashtop is uncracked and a lovely Nardi wooden wheel tops off what is an evocative place to sit; a nice touch is the original key fob.
Boot
Very clean with original rubber matting, spare wheel including tie down, the correct jack and a toolkit.
Summary
The most sought after 105 series spider, these 1750 models rarely change hands and this one has to be amongst the best of the 57 left on UK roads (per howmanyleft.com).
Supplied with an owner’s manual and factory hardtop.
