Although this Austin A35 is now MOT exempt as it was manufactured prior to 1960, it has recently passed an MOT which runs until March 2018.
It was registered new in October 1957 and still wears its original registration number 874EPB.
Its long term owner who had it from 1985 until 2016, competed and finished in the 1997 Classic Rally Association Monte Carlo Challenge of which details can be seen here, Challenge 1997 entrant number 112.
He also entered the 1997 Le Jog in the car and finished 2nd in class.
In 2006 the car underwent a substantial amount of work and upgrading which included a full respray in County Cream, the interior was stripped and the floor repainted with Hammerite, the engine bay stripped and repainted, the bumpers rechromed and new carpets, new roof lining and new front and rear window seals were fitted.
It had a 1098cc engine fitted with the twin SU carburettors being given K&N air filters and a Maniflow exhaust system fitted. The cooling system was fully flushed, the heater stripped and overhauled and an electric radiator cooling fan was fitted.
The braking system was fully overhauled with new brake master cylinder, new front wheel cylinders and new copper brake pipes being fitted.
The Rae Davis Racing suspension was overhauled and new rear springs fitted.
In May 2016, the engine was rebuilt with new piston rings, valves, shells, gaskets, full clutch and water pump.
New rules that commenced in October 2014 mean that the car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
