Commentaires du vendeur sur 1989' Ferrari F40
This F40, stamped with the chassis number 80768 is one of the 1311 cars produced between 1987 and 1992. Ordered by a prince who intended to keep the car at his property at Senlis, she was delivered to the French importer Pozzi on October 10th 1989. But the ruler cancelled his order and the Ferrari remained in the marque’s showroom at Levallois until 1997. Finally, on Semptember 22nd, a loyal Ferrari client bought the car for 1.5 million francs. He had in fact acquired the last remaining unused F40. A letter from Ferrari, personally signed by Daniel Marin, thanking the client for this purchase, is in fact included in the thick file which accompanies this supercar, along with the order form and the invoice. The car left the Paris area to go to the Auvergne where she would be maintained by the well-known Ferrari specialist Philippe Gardette (Auvergne Moteurs), whose passion and high professional standards are unanimously acknowledged. This F40 was sent to Maranello on November 24th 2008 and received her Classiche Ferrari certification. The handsome red folder confirms her total authenticity : engine, gearbox, turbos, fuel tank, paintwork, everything is in absolute conformity and in outstanding condition. On May 13th 2014, this Ferrari changed hands but did not move far, becoming the property of another fan of the prancing horse, a neighbour and close friend of the previous owner. The odometer reading was then 22 000 km and is now 25 025. The service record and the invoices confirme that this exotic machine continued to be looked after regularly in the workshops of Auvergne Moteurs and show that the turbos were replaced at 20 916 km, the brakes entirely overhauled and the timing belt changed at 21 140 km, the air conditioning gas and the tyres replaced at 22 665 km. A major service was undertaken at 22 703 km, with the gearbox taken out and the clutch and engine mountings changed. We remind you that the F40 was the last model to be produced at Maranello under the personal direction of Enzo Ferrari and that she remains one of the most famous supercars ever made. The car in this sale is a particularly desirable example, having only had two knowledgeable and careful French owners. It is entirely original (only the steering wheel and the original exhaust system have been changed and these parts will be handed over to the next owner) and it has neither catalysers nor electronic driving aids. It has air conditioning, hand operated wind-up windows and Sabelt four-point safety harnesses. It comes with a car cover and the tool kit and original accessories in their original case. As 2017 sees the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Ferrari marque, it is very likely that the bidding for such an iconic car will be hotly disputed.
