The Ford Model A was colloquially called the A-Model Ford or A-Bone among rodders and customisers and replaced the venerable Model T which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 1903-1904) was designated as a 1928 model and was available in four standard colours. By March 1930, Model A sales hit three million and there were nine body styles available. It was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle and gearshift. The Model A's gravity fuel tank was located in the cowl, between the engine compartment's fire wall and the dash panel, and a rear view mirror was optional.

This 1940 Ford Pick-up has been the subject of a total restoration and presents in superb condition. All the duties have been paid and she is registered in the UK and is supplied with a V5C registration document. The 239 cubic inch Ford Mercury engine has been bored out and is now an estimated 260 cubic inch and the transmission is a three-speed manual. Twin Stromberg carburettors sit proudly on this V8 engine and the exhaust system emits a superb noise, certainly commensurate with a big American V8. The performance is brisk and stopping is via a 1947 set of Ford drum brakes and a GM master cylinder. During the rebuild of this Ford Pick-up a Kwik wiring harness was fitted, together with an aluminium radiator to ensure adequate engine cooling. Sitting slightly lower at the front and with two inches chopped off the roof, aesthetically this is a very handsome Ford, the flat bed was shortened by 19 inches to keep the lines in proportion. The vendor is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic regarding such cars as well as being exceedingly fastidious. This rare Ford Model A Pick-up is of the highest quality.
