1965' Jaguar E Type E-Type

This Jaguar E-Type Series One 4.2 FHC is being offered onto the market for the first time since 1991. The owner sadly passed away earlier this year and we are handling the sale on behalf of the family. This matching numbers car was sold in 1991 by The E-Type Centre having being subject of a major restoration between 1989 and 1990. Photos showing the rolling shell are with the history file. The car is a North American Import still in LHD format and a Heritage Certificate has been ordered.

Over the 26 years of ownership the E-Type had proven an enjoyable long-distance touring car. For example, the E-Type had two trips to Scotland from the York area during the 1990's, one in 1994 when the owners visited their honeymoon destination on Deeside on their Silver Wedding anniversary. During the late summer/early Autumn of 1997 the E-Type was taken on North Sea Ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge and the owners toured Normandy and Brittany staying at various Logis de France hotels. One other memorable trip was to the Highlands in the North West. This included driving over The Pass of the Cattle from Loch Carron.

Sadly, in more recent years the E-Type hasn't been used and we were asked to view the car earlier in the year. The E-Type bonnet was removed and various ancillaries removed. Clearly some work was being undertaken but didn't get completed. On arrival at our Malton Coachworks workshop, we re-fitted the bonnet and will now begin getting the car started after some time untouched. ABW 63C will be a very easy restoration project and could even be re-commissioned and put back on the road in current cosmetic condition. Firstly, the body is structurally excellent and will not be requiring major repairs. The paintwork has evidence of micro blistering all over so a bare metal re-paint and re-chroming plus new wheels and tyres would be required in order to present as it did when rebuilt many years ago. The interior trim is nice with lovely aged leather and will only require some tidying. Mechanically an overhaul will be required so there are many options for potential buyers to consider.
