Commentaires du vendeur sur 1970' Lotus Europa
Lotus Europa S2 Banks totally restored and in truly fabulous.
I'm selling my brilliant Banks Lotus Europa as on with a 26R project now and it’s becoming a money pit ! Banks is a company based in Southport that takes a superb classic car - the Lotus Europa, which in its day was an amazing Chapman / Hickman achievement - and brings it bang up to date, sensibly. Either building a new car or by various engine swaps and modifications to suspension and chassis turning the original cars into one of the best classic cars to drive there is - they become sensational drivers cars. The original Europa had its issues and by and large Banks have ironed these out nicely. Their improvements to existing cars makes a huge differences to the quality of the car and are changes that I'm sure Chapman would be delighted with. It's similar in some respects to what Caterham have done to the Lotus 7. This particular car importantly retains its original chassis but with Banks modifications. Banks do supply their own chassis but in this instance I wanted to have a car that retained its original chassis. However, the chassis has been blasted and made 'as new' plus these Banks improvements as seen in the photos. The best of both Worlds. The total restoration of this car has had major input from Banks and an excellent race engineer who have both spent a huge number of hours on the car combined. It has completed 4,000 miles since this total restoration and has always been garaged. It is immaculate and very easy and fun to drive. In fact it is as nice a Europa as you would ever find if you wanted originality combined with practicality. The brief list of modifications and spec are: Banks 1600 Vauxhall engine ( Richard's own built engine ) with stage 3 cylinder head, measured at 127 bhp on a rolling road - the engine is as sweet and smooth as you could wish for and these engines are quite frankly as bomb proof as any I know. It's 'easy' to stick any engine you desired into the back of a Europa but this one gives all the power you would need and could be tuned to give tons more. Two twin Dellorto carburetors New body shell - Banks - considerable improvement on original in many ways Superb black paintwork condition - the paint looks like it's an inch thick! Banks twinlink suspension rig Ceramic coat exhaust AVO adjustable shocks all round Twin alloy fuel tanks Banks gear shift link (makes for sharp, fast gear change) Wolfrace alloy wheels Various sympathetic modifications to make it more a usable car (particularly for tall drivers). 6 ft no problem. Parts and workshop manuals Photo history of the restoration work Zero road tax, MOT to June 2019. Engine service and cambelt done Plus other modifications and improvements. I recently had a 300 mile 'run out' in her and she didn't miss a beat. The price I have listed the car at is £18995, which is, if you wanted a Europa, very reasonable, and in fact, if you bought a good donor car and restored it you wouldn't be able to replicate anywhere near for that price. Genuinely you would be hard pushed to fault the car it's as if it has just come out of Banks garage. I have often debated whether to put some bumpers on and it would look like a standard S2 but I rather like the racy look without. Banks cars will undoubtedly become very collectable in the future so a good investment. But more importantly great fun. It is fitted with a racy 4 speed box but I will include a 5 speed box for the asking price if you require it to have long legs. If it's a Lotus Europa you want then come do come and have a look. It's as good as it looks. Based in The Lake District. Local transport can deliver. Assistance with shipping worldwide. Any questions please feel free to ask.
